This truly has been such an incredible experience and I don’t want it to end. I am writing this post from the comfort of a bottom bunk, at a historic lodge here is Washington State.

While I am proud to announce that I am currently at mile 2,303 with only around 365 miles to go to get to Canada, I will have to say it didn’t come easy. Over the last couple of weeks we finished up the state of Oregon in a whopping 19 days time. The “flatness” of the state allowed for some of the biggest mile days we have seen yet. I heard that one hiker did a 63 mile day to get to Timberline Lodge. I had to give myself a little pat on the back after a successful day of 42 miles to get to the same lodge. I guess that all you can eat breakfast buffet was enough incentive for us hikers to crank out the big miles. :}

The unfortunate bit was that I also got rained on for about 4 days straight as I crossed through a section of Oregon, and unfortunately the rain was the final element to kill my phone for good. I guess the fortune bit, was that this gave me an opportunity to grab a short trip into Portland in hopes of getting a new one, and instead had one mailed to me here at White Pass, WA. So all is right in the world again.

Yesterday we hiked through the Goat Rocks Wilderness, and I will have to say it most definitely rivaled the almost incomparable Sierra mountains. We climbed for what felt like forever, to be lead up to the spine of a mountain ridge, that resembled that of the Great Wall of China when looking down on it from the top. Due to my phone being wounded in action, I had to leave the photo taking up to my Canon EOS M to do all the work, and will have to revisit the photos once I get to a computer to transfer them to my new phone.

Until then I wanted to leave you with photo from a day in the Sierras, where the clouds were just perfect for the scene that was unfolding in front of our eyes for that day. I remember just being completely blown away by the geography of the area, and it’s starting to look like Washington State is to deliver more of the same type of dramatic and spectacular landscapes.
