Today marks a new part of my life and yesterday was the end of another, but I am excited about what the future has in store for me. So with that said I am excited to announce that starting April 10th I will be attempting a thru-hike on the Pacific Crest Trail, along the west coast spanning from the US/Mexico border to the US/Canada border. That means for 5 months I will be hiking a total of 2,663 miles and reaching elevations of 13,153 feet while passing through 25 national forests, and 7 national parks.
You may be thinking, “Brandon you are insane” and my response to that is… Yes. Yes, I am. But the truth is for a long time now I have thought about the possibility of a thru hike along the Appalachian Trail, and after a ton of debating and talking with other highly regarded individuals in the field I ultimately have decided to hike the PCT instead. Yesterday marked the last day of the job I have been working for the last 3 years, and I will be contracting for the next 3 months while I prepare for the hike starting in April. I have been working really hard for the last 4 months planning every aspect of this adventure and reaching out to sponsors to try and get support for my trip, but I will have much more about that in the coming weeks. 😉
For now, I am also announcing the launch of my new website [www.brandonexplores.com] the link is in my profile if interested. A majority of my hike will be documented there and split between my Instagram and other social properties. Currently you can read about some of the things I have experienced while out taking photos, as well as buy some prints or pieces for your home if you so desire. This is a “soft launch” kinda, so I will be adding more pieces for sale over the coming weeks as I get more things put down. I will also have digital downloads for sale up shortly also. I am really excited about what’s in store for the future and firmly believe that nothing great comes in life with out some risk involved. You’ve just got to be willing enough to take the risk in order to chase it, so here I am… chasing it.

Hey! I have also decided to thru hike the pct April 2014. I just recently made the mental commitment and currently trying to save the money and collect the gear. I have wanted to hike the trail since I was in high school and finally decided to go for it. Maybe I’ll see you on the trail an I’ll be following your blog for planning tips!
