The desert can be an excruciatingly hot place to be at times. Some hikers use lite weight reflective umbrellas to fight of the harmful UV rays.

In the distance you can see a snow covered Mt. Jacinto. It was such a surreal experience to be hiking through a hot desert while looking at a snow covered mountain that we just crossed the day before.
