When I was in my teens.

When I was in my teens, I would frequently “borrow my mom’s car” and go for long drives at night. I would never go anywhere bad, but would frequently find myself somewhere along Lake Murray looking at the stars and water move in unison as if they somehow communicated with one another. I would sit and think about the big questions in life. I would think about things like “why are we here?” and “where did we come from?” and “how am I going to try and nose grind that 7 stair handrail in front of the USC Campus Library?”

Most importantly I would think about how lucky I was to be able to sit and reflect on my own life, and how no matter what I would never fully be prepared for what awaits me amongst my journey through this life. I would think about how exciting that is and how I can’t wait to face what it has in store for me. 82 days until my feet are at the start of The Pacific Crest Trail. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t even the least bit excited to start this new journey in my life. Gaze on my friends, you never know where it might take you.
