The Smithsonian Institution Shelter.

This is The Smithsonian Institution shelter also know as the Mount Whitney Summit Shelter, and is located 14,505 feet above the earth on the tallest summit in the contiguous United States.

This shelter was built in 1909 and still sits here for any hiker bold enough to summit the mountain and spend the night up there. Me and two other hikers took it upon ourselves to accept the challenge and topped the mountain right at sunset.

We slept in every item of clothing we had and literally had to push our bodies together while in our sleeping bags in order to stay warm for the night, but I assure you, it was worth every bit of the struggle to gain views that few have set eyes on.
