Some things just don’t go the way you plan sometimes, and sometimes failure is all a part of the journey. After completing a couple hundred miles of the Colorado Trail, and being a bit over zealous with how fast I was trying to move through it, I messed my knee up pretty good in the process. I tried to wait around for a week and let it heal up, but no signs of any progress started to show, and I had a bill that was starting to really add up at the hotel I was staying in, so I decided it was best to call it.
I was pretty upset with myself over the whole ordeal, so I thought it would be best to stick around in Colorado for a bit longer and rent a car so that I could still have an opportunity to see what the state had to offer. Trying to make the best out of the situation, I set out to capture what I could.
One of the first places on the list was the famous Maroon Bells, located in Aspen, Colorado, a photographers dream location. It rains quite a bit in the afternoons in Colorado, almost always on cue, at 2pm to be exact. On this day there were no exceptions made, so when I arrived the ranger warned me that there was quite a bit of fog and cloud cover and that my chances at catching a glimpse were slim. I decided to take my chances and went to have a look. At first he was dead on with his predictions. I got frustrated and decided to just sit in the car and wait it out for a bit and to check back before making camp for the night. When I went back I was greeted with this.
Another photographer @wilsonaxpe had taken his chances as well and was wading in the water capturing the show we were so lucky to be catching. The Fog had lifted just enough and the light of dusk was starting to break through the clouds. Made all the rain and injuries worth it for that moment. I hobbled back to my rental car and let out a sigh of relief. I knew I would still have a great adventure in front of me.#ColoradoLive
