Oregon is beautiful. I am now at mile 1,834 sitting and admiring the almost dream like conditions here at Crater Lake. Oregon has felt like a dream, as we continue to dodge fire after fire in the region and weave in and out of thick forest growth.
The smoke in the air creates a hazy reality and makes it almost as if you are on a whole different planet entirely. As I hiked yesterday, I watched a helicopter fly in on multiple trips and collect water from a lake near the trail, just to fly back towards a raging fire in hopes of a solution to the burning horizon in the distance.
Even with all the fire around, Oregon continues to grow on me everyday I have the pleasure of hiking through it.
